Technical College

The National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) Technical College plays a vital role in developing skilled manpower for the railway industry and other technical sectors. Managed through the Human Resources Branch, the College contributes to the growth of human capital by providing quality technical and vocational education aligned with national development objectives.

The Human Resources Branch is a central pillar of the National Railways of Zimbabwe operations. It exists to provide impetus and direction to the organisation through strategically managing its human capital as its most valuable resource.

With the ever-changing industrial trends, the NRZ Training College plays a major role in the development of skilled manpower who are rated among some of the best in the world. This is a key investment for the NRZ, and the Human Resources Branch is also charged with maintaining a developmental approach to existing human capital.

In line with Zimbabwe Vision 2030, the NRZ Training College is contributing to the national skills base by capacitating school leavers through a variety of technical and life skills courses.

Practical Training

Students receive hands-on practical training through the NRZ Mechanical Workshops, enabling them to apply classroom knowledge in a real industrial environment.

Admission Requirements

1. National Certificate (NC) Courses

Applicants should possess:

  • Five (5) Ordinary Level subjects at Grade C or better.

  • Subjects must include:

    • English Language

    • Mathematics

    • A Science subject

2. Trainee Train Driver Course

Applicants should possess:

  • Five (5) Ordinary Level subjects at Grade C or better.

  • Subjects must include:

    • English Language

    • Mathematics

    • Science

3. Skilled Worker Courses

Applicants should possess:

  • Oral and written communication skills in English (Class 4).

  • Five (5) years exposure to the trade (Class 4).

  • Have passed Trade Test in Class 4, 3 or 2 with not less than 12 months industrial exposure in the relevant class.
